Hello guys, I have been looking for information on starting my own radio show and I kept getting recommended here so I hope you guys can help!

I am really keen on starting my own radio show but its overwhelming when you look for information on google. I am hoping you guys will be able to narrow down the options for me and get me up and running.

Essentially what I want to do is start my own show that will be on air, for an hour lets say 3 times a week. I want to play music (I have an extensive collection but access to a library would be brilliant) Also I would like to do a bit of chat between songs, link it to twitter etc so listeners can contact me. And eventually if I am a success make some money out of it all!

Thats my basic guideline. I have a bit of money to spend but can't be spending £50 a month on something that say 2 people are going to hear.

Can you guys point me in the right direction in terms of server, programs etc. I am quite good with computers but some of the stuff I have found on google looks very very complicated.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer, it really is appreciated.

This curiosity came across me earlier. I have been playing around with tons of different setups but haven't been able to find anything suitable. What I want to know is if anyone else has succeeded in running their station with zero audio processing beyond normalizing out the source audio before hand? That is the only thing that has really sounded decent across different encoders to my ears.

Thanks!

I've tried something called Icecast, but I dunno how it works.

Can someone recomend something for me? A link to a tutorial for something? Anything? :D

When I get it working I'll probably be moving it to a server, a linux server, will it be compatible?
Thanks in advance, Swanmark.

Heres how I filled this Saturday morning.
Got in to the car to go downtown, listening to my station. But when I got to the
end of my drive in came another station over the top of mine. Well you can quess
what I said, so I went out hunting for them. Every I went they were still coming
in in stereo. Drove around and went to places which I knew were bad areas for
radio. Still in stereo so I thought these guys are pushing some good power. I
then drove out of town out of lpfm range, but there they were loud and clear in
stereo. After a while I thought stuff it, theres nothing I can do about it.
On the way home I thought I would put my cell phone radio with the ear buds on
since it is not as good as the car radio and turned the car radio off. It came
in strong again in stereo so I headed home. Got at the start of my driveway and
decided to check the letter box. Stop and turned the car off to take the key to
the letter box and the station over the top of mine stopped. Then the light
turned on. I could have hit myself in the head.:retard: Looked down and there was my mp3
player transmitter plugged in to the lighter socket.I normaly leave it 1/2
plugged in so when I get out of town I just push it in. The other day I had taken
it out to show a mate and when I put it back in the car I had pushed it fully
in.Did I feel a proper dick. This will never happen again. lol its a good man who
can laugh at himself and Im sticking to it.
